Thomas was first elected in May 2016 as a City of Lincoln Councillor for Witham Ward where he now serves as Leader of the Conservative Group. He is working hard to make sure that the residents of Witham are heard and that they are having their voice heard at City Hall. 

Thomas was also elected as a county councillor in May 2021, representing Waddington and Hykeham East.

Thomas was re-elected as City Councillor for Witham Ward in May 2023.
