The 2026 local elections proved to be a disappointing set of results in Lincoln. While we are naturally disappointed by the outcome, we are immensely proud of the hard work, determination, and commitment shown by every Conservative candidate and volunteer throughout the campaign. Election campaigns are built on the dedication of local people who give up countless hours to stand up for their communities and Conservative values. Across the city, our candidates worked tirelessly, speaking to residents on the doorstep, delivering literature in all weathers, and making the case for strong local representation.
We would particularly like to thank all of our defeated candidates for the tremendous effort they put into their campaigns. Standing for election is never easy, and every candidate represented the Association with professionalism, resilience, and commitment. Special recognition must also go to former Birchwood Ward Councillor Alan Briggs for his years of hard work and dedicated service to residents. Alan worked tirelessly for Birchwood and was a committed local champion throughout his time as a councillor.
The Association would also like to express its sincere gratitude to two councillors who stepped down ahead of the elections after years of dedicated public service: Hilton Spratt, the long-standing councillor for Witham Ward, and Rachel Storer of Hartsholme Ward. Both served their communities with great dedication and made a lasting contribution to local government in Lincoln.
During the campaign, we were delighted to welcome support from senior Conservatives, including visits from Victoria Atkins MP, Caroline Johnson MP and Nigel Huddleston MP, whose encouragement and campaigning support were greatly appreciated by candidates and volunteers alike.
One of the highlights of the campaign was the major Action Day held on the final Saturday before polling day. We were incredibly grateful for the support received from members and activists from across Lincolnshire and the wider East Midlands, who joined local campaigners on the doorstep in a tremendous show of teamwork and commitment.
While these results were disappointing, Lincoln Conservatives remain committed to working hard for residents, holding the Labour administration to account, and continuing to make the case for Conservative values across our city. We thank every volunteer, member, and supporter who contributed during the campaign, and we look forward to continuing our work in the months and years ahead.
