Sandra Gratrick

Although Sandra was born in Ellistown in Leicestershire, she grew up and went to school in Lincoln, firstly with relatives in Carr St in Lincoln’s East end, then her parents moved to Skellingthorpe Rd for a short time and on Coronation Day moved into their home on the Ermine Estate East, where her mother still lives today.

She went to Skellingthorpe Infants school; then St Giles Infants, until the Ermine Infants & Junior schools were built; followed by Spring Hill School for Girls.

Her first job was at Pennells where she worked in the Accounts department including eventually looking after the accounts for their other branches in Lincolnshire until she left to have their first son Kingsley. Later she worked part time for Jim Hicks the Bookmaker until she joined BT in 1979.  She worked for BT as a Personal Assistant for two Managers in Openreach (BT) until she retired on 31st March 2010.

Like her husband David, she has been involved in local politics since 1979, finally becoming a Councillor for Minster Ward in 2006. Growing up and attending school on the Ermine gives Sandra a strong affinity as to what happens in the area.

Prior to the 2011 local elections, she was the Portfolio Holder for Customer Services and (strange as it may seem) she thoroughly enjoyed the role.

She is also Governor at two local schools – Ermine Primary and Mount St School.

Sandra’s interests are painting, history, reading and travelling.
