David was born in Cannon Street in Lincoln in 1943 and went to St Andrews & Bishop King Schools. Moving eventually to St Giles until he and Sandra married in 1966.
They have been married for 44 years and are very proud of the success of their sons, Kingsley, Keenan and Vincent. They have five grandchildren – Charles, Jake, Ruby, Rhoini and Tilly who they enjoy spending time with.
David has been retired since 1994 from BT where he worked for 30 years. He has been a Councillor on Minster Ward since 2000 having been active in local politics since 1979.
He spent 16 years with the Parachute Regiment TA unit in Lincoln and then became Chairman of the Parachute Regimental Association (Lincoln Branch). He spent 27 years in Scouting and is an Executive member of the The Credit Union as well as an Executive member of the Army Benevolent Fund for Lincolnshire and Chairman of Lincoln Ex Service Association (LEXSA).
David’s interests are in the Military and Sport mainly Football and he is and has been a Spurs supporter for many years. From these interests there are pictures of him in the Lincolnshire Life Museum from when the 16th Independent Company of the Parachute Regiment was disbanded and their colours laid in the Museum. He has also been known to don the Lincoln City Football shirt in his youth playing for Lincoln City Youth Team against Sheffield Wednesday.
David enjoys walking and in his time has won trophy’s for some of the walks including the veterans trophy which is for the over 40’s for the Poacher Hike 40 miles across the Lincolnshire Wolds in under 10 hours and also Four Inns Master Hikes 45 miles over the Pennines in an average time of 12 hours.
Now when he can find the time he enjoys the more gentler type walks and gardening.
Both he and Sandra enjoy travelling.
David hopes to stand for re-election for Minster Ward in 2011.
