Events listing

The visit to London to be shown round the Palace of Westminster by Karl and his team was a great success, not the least being the use of the direct train from Lincoln for the first time by some of the party. Whilst the majority visited the chambers and other parts of the Westminster estate four of us managed the 365 steps to the top of Big Ben, after which the refreshments on the terrace were most welcome. Thanks are due to Karl, Mel and Michael, as well as neighbouring MP’s, for looking after us.

The Birchwood cheese and wine party held at Jane’s was enjoyed by all those who attended, and showed what can so easily be done to raise funds for the forthcoming election campaign.

On  Friday 7th October we met at the Castle Hotel and welcomed Sir Kenneth Carlisle back to Lincoln as the guest speaker at the President’s Lunch. Sir Kenneth spoke of the warm memories he had of his time here, and, of course, of our president, George Ashton and his wife Doreen. A Certificate of Outstanding Achievement, signed by David Cameron, was presented to Doreen and George by Karl McCartney.
