The Lincoln Association has received an invitation to the Lincoln CF’s “Big Debate” on the theme of (King) Charles verses Parliament: The Rights and Wrongs of the Civil War, on the 7th December.

We are very fortunate that Rupert Matthews, MEP elect and avid historian, will be joining us for this event as a guest speaker and judge for the debating teams.

If you would like to attend this event please detach the slip at the bottom of the email attachment and return as stated. We will accept people who wish to attend at the door however as a buffet is provided we would like to have as many confirmed numbers as possible by the 3rd December.

Monday Meet, 3rd Monday in each month.

I am sad to say that the attendance at this event has fallen away so much that we are inclined to discontinue trying to make a go of it, and there will be no more meetings this year. What did come out of the October meeting was that the younger generation of Conservative supporters in Lincoln are putting us to shame. The Lincoln CF meet every Monday, with a variety of events, and they would be delighted if any of us were to join them.  Their program for November is

Monday 14th, Debate on Education, 7pm, venue to be confirmed

Monday 21st November, Ghost Walk.

Monday 28th November. Debate in the Queen in the West, with Guest speaker, Jacqui Briggs, Politics Lecturer at the University.

If you would like to attend, their Chairman, Laura Goodliffe, would be delighted to hear from you on 07889 344311 or laurajanegoodliffe@hotmail.co.uk

Rushcliffe Conservative Association Annual Dinner

News from a nearby Constituency

Rushcliffe Conservative Association Annual Dinner on Friday, 25th November 2011

Dear All,

As you all know the, Rushcliffe Parliamentary Constituency is about to be “carved up” by the Boundary Commission, therefore it might be one of the few times left to come along and support our Annual Dinner.

Rushcliffe has over the years put on some memorable occasions, raised funds for the party both locally and nationally and provided help and support to neighbouring constituencies. It has in all respects, represented the Conservative Party magnificently here in this part of the world.

This year’s event is a great way to celebrate that fact and for everybody concerned to show their appreciation. It is also an excellent opportunity to, “meet the neighbours”.

When the Rushcliffe constituency is finally no longer here at the next General Election, those whom come after might need the help and support from the parts they inherit.

Anyway, please find attached details of the event and we hope to see you at the dinner.

Best Wishes
Ian Cooper (Rushcliffe Agent)

Events listing

The visit to London to be shown round the Palace of Westminster by Karl and his team was a great success, not the least being the use of the direct train from Lincoln for the first time by some of the party. Whilst the majority visited the chambers and other parts of the Westminster estate four of us managed the 365 steps to the top of Big Ben, after which the refreshments on the terrace were most welcome. Thanks are due to Karl, Mel and Michael, as well as neighbouring MP’s, for looking after us.

The Birchwood cheese and wine party held at Jane’s was enjoyed by all those who attended, and showed what can so easily be done to raise funds for the forthcoming election campaign.

On  Friday 7th October we met at the Castle Hotel and welcomed Sir Kenneth Carlisle back to Lincoln as the guest speaker at the President’s Lunch. Sir Kenneth spoke of the warm memories he had of his time here, and, of course, of our president, George Ashton and his wife Doreen. A Certificate of Outstanding Achievement, signed by David Cameron, was presented to Doreen and George by Karl McCartney.
