Monday Meets

The March Meet, held on 1st April, in conjunction with the launch of the Lincolnshire CPF was a great success. A full room heard Karl talk about his time at Westminster in particular giving an insight into what is required to be called to speak in PMQ, as well as answering questions.

After the buffet the CPF discussion, lead by Andrea Jenkyns, was on Youth Employment. The four groups presented their conclusions which will form a submission to the CPF unit in CCHQ with a view, as for all matters considered by CPF Groups, to guiding Conservative Policy for the next election. View photos on Lincolnshire CPF Facebook and sign up to join them in future.

As for the Lincoln Monday Meet the favorite options seems to be coming to a purely social evening, with a quiz of course, and on the THIRD Monday in the Month. Due to election activity and the proximity of Easter we will not hold one in April but in May, provisionally on Monday 16th May (counting the Bank Holiday as the first Monday). Suggestions welcome for a venue, perhaps where there is the option of being outside if the weather is favourable. Please let me know.
Postal votes will be with us from 21st April so either then, or on 5th May,

Voluntary Sector Funding Fair – 7th April 2011

Voluntary Centre Services and Lincolnshire County Council are organising a Funding Fair at the Ruston Sports and Social Club, Newark Road, LN6 8Sa on Thursday 7th April. This will be a great opportunity to see what funds are available for Voluntary and Community Groups and and get some helpful advice on what funders are looking for.

During the afternoon we will be having some specific workshops, run by funders WREN, The Tudor Trust and the Big Lottery where you can find out what they are looking for in their applications and have the chance to ask questions. There are limited spaces on the workshops, so please book a place to avoid disappointment.

For more information, please see the attached flier or go to  http://www.volunteercentrelincoln.org.uk/ . Please contact 01522 551683 or email info@volunteercentrelincoln.org.uk/ to book.

Monday Meet on April Fools Day

As regulars to the Monday Meet will know it is not always on a Monday. It will then come as no surprise to them to find out that the March Monday Meet is neither on a Monday nor in March. A combination of circumstances means that the next one will be in April, on a Friday, and it will be on FRIDAY 1ST APRIL from 19.30. The location is The Queen in the West, Moor Street, Lincoln, just off Carholme Road, deep in enemy territory, but we have been there before, escaped unharmed, but well fortified.

The evening will be a combined event with Lincolnshire Conservative Policy Forum, for whom the leading light is Cllr Andrea Jenkyns from Boston. Their subject of discussion will be “Youth employment and Skills”. The first part of the evening, however, will be about, and from, Karl, our MP, and his experiences in Westminster, as requested by popular vote at our January Monday Meet.
As there will be a buffet it would be helpful to know numbers so if you think you will be coming, please just tap on the “Reply to All” button to help us. Hope to see you there!
Best wishes
Peter

Monday Meet rescheduled to 28 Feb 2011

To all those of you who have already asked where the next Monday Meet will be, scheduled for this coming Monday 21st February, I can now advise you that it has been put back to Monday 28th February, due to Andrew and I still recovering from our respective holidays.

By popular demand we are returning to the scene of our best attended event, The Homestead, St John’s Park, Canwick Aenue, Bracebridge Heath. They do a great 2 4 1 MEAL DEAL, so if you don’t come with a friend or partner either be prepared to share with someone or eat 2, as someone did last time (no names). We will be there from 7.30pm, and may have a quiz, though there are some copies of last month’s quiz still to do for those who were unable to make that night.

Karl hopes to be joining us so there will be the chance to hear more about his rebellious streak and run in with his Whip and other events in Westminster. We will also be talking about the AV Referendum, and will have leaflets for you to take away and distribute if you feel as strongly about it as I do.
